Getting Started Project Teams Managing Documents Kerika for Work For School For Action

Let Kerika Manage Your Documents

If you are working on a document with others, Kerika will automatically file the different versions that get produced along the way, as you and your buddies make changes:

  • You can periodically make backups (snapshot copies) of the document with a single click. This lets you track the evolution of a document and roll back to an older version with a single click.

  • When you modify a shared document, Kerika makes sure all your team members have your latest version. (And if you don't want your changes sent automatically, you can easily switch from automatic sending to manual sending.)

  • Similarly, if any of your buddies make changes to a shared document, Kerika makes sure everyone else on the team has this new version. Best of all, Kerika does all the filing for everyone on the team.

  • Team members can attach Notes to a document. These Notes are linked by Kerika to the document, but don't actually modify the document itself. You can attach any number of Notes to a document, and these get shared along with the document so it makes it easy to track a document's history. (Now you know why we call Kerika the smarter alternative to email!)

Let Kerika manage your documents

In the example shown above, we see there are several versions available for Brand Identity Map.ppt:

  • There are two versions that came from team members. When a team member modifies a document, it doesn't overwrite anyone else's files. Instead, Kerika makes sure that every team member has a complete set of all versions. You can easily swap out your version with your team mate's version by clicking on the Replace Your Version button. And if you don't want to keep a team member's version, you can remove it from your computer by clicking on the Delete button. (Note: since Kerika works with a peer-to-peer model, you never remove files from anyone else's computer: when you delete a file it only goes away from your Kerika, not anyone else's.)

  • On the bottom-half we can see that the user has made one backup. As the document evolves you might find it helpful to periodically capture snapshots of the document so that if you end up going down the wrong path you can easily revert to an older version (by clicking on the Replace Your Version or Rollback buttons).
