An easy way to get started with a new project is to use one of the nearly 80 project and process templates that come
bundled with the Kerika software. These templates cover a wide range of business practices and situations:
-
Developing business plans.
-
Managing IT and software development projects.
-
Creating marketing plans.
-
Doing Six Sigma projects.
-
Product management for software and other high-tech products.
-
Business analysis and competitive strategy.
To use a template, click on the File menu and then select the Use Template option. This will bring up a
list of all available templates provided by Kerika:
If we select a particular template, such as Creating Business Plans as shown in the example above, Kerika will set up
a project for you, which could, depending upon the template selected, include both process flows and sample
documents and Web bookmarks. The Business Plans template, for example, looks like this on an Idea Page:
This template includes a process flow for creating a business plan, plus an embedded sample Business Plan
document and a link to a helpful Web site.
A Template can contain many levels of Idea Pages: the Product Management template, for example, contains several layers of sub-Projects.
In addition to using the many templates that come bundled in with the Kerika software, you can also create your own
templates: just go to the File menu and select the Create Template command.
Creating your own template can be helpful in a variety of situations: for example, if you are a consultant,
you might want to set up standard processes of handling particular client engagements, such as advising on IT planning or creating an advertising
campaign, and then use your own custom project templates to kick-start future projects.
Similarly, if you are a teacher, you might want to set
up a standard process to guide your students on their group projects.
Once you have created your templates, use the Share Template command in the File menu to share your templates with other Kerika users.
